Snow scenes Dec 2017

The early morning of Sunday December 10th was wet. The twenty four hour period from 9am Saturday until 9am Sunday was the wettest of 2017 with a total of 29.9mm of rain. However at around 8am the rain tuned into snow and despite temperatures being above zero, the wet snow started to accumulate. The snow petered out just after noon. By this time the snow depth was 5.5cm. In the afternoon temperatures crept up again to reach a maximum of 2.0° C. There was a brief thaw but the following night it dropped to -4.0° and the snow froze hard making untreated roads and footpaths dangerous. The remaining snow stayed on the ground for two days (until afternoon Tuesday 12th). Here are some pictures from Sunday.
